Maverick and Triton the Goffin Cockatoos

Goffin Cockatoos (Maverick on Left, Triton on Right) have a distinctive crest of feathers on their head which is erected when they are alarmed or excited.  They have unique powder down feathers that disintegrate on the edges coating their body with a powder residue. Cockatoos are very vocal and are able to mimic human voices with great accuracy.  They can develop substantial vocabularies.  In the wild they are found in flocks that forage for seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables and fruits.  They are long lived, some species exceeding 80 years of age.
