Lucille Ball                                                                                              Three-banded Armadillo
IUCN: Near Threatened

Picture
The only armadillo that can roll into a tight ball for protection, this amazing creature can withstand larger predators by closing its vulnerable underside within its hard shell waiting for danger to pass before opening and trotting off to cover.  It forages under leaf matter and rotted logs for ants, termites and insect larvae using tactile hairs along its side to feel its way.
